UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS

ITU-TRNC Education and Research Campuses undergraduate programs are chosen among maritime programs by taking geographical position, regional and global requirements into consideration. There are three undergraduate programs at our university: Marine Engineering, Maritime Transportation Management Engineering, and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.

 

MARITIME TRANSPORTATION MANAGEMENT ENGINEERING

After completing 1 year of English language education at English Preparatory School and 4 years of undergraduate education, graduates of Maritime Transportation Management Engineering Department become entitled to get the diploma of ITU-TRNC Maritime Transportation Management Engineering. Education includes A II /1 and A II/ 2 curriculum programs specified by STCW Convention. Education provided by the department meets the conditions required by “Oceangoing watch keeping officer” and “Oceangoing Master” which are obligatory in national and international maritime industry. In addition to four years theoretical and practical education, students get 12-month long practical marine training and thus, they become eligible to take “unlimited watchkeeping chief officer” examination given by Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Directorate General of Maritime and Inland Waters Regulation. The graduates of this department can be employed in maritime lines and trade ships.

MARINE ENGINEERING

After completing 1 year of English language education at English Preparatory School and 4 years of undergraduate education, graduates of Marine Engineering Department become entitled to get the diploma of ITU-TRNC Marine Engineering specified by STCW Convention. In this department, education includes A III/1 and A III /2 curriculum programs as specified by the Seamen’s Regulations. Education provided by the department meets the conditions required by Oceangoing Engineer Officer and Oceangoing Chief Engineer which are obligatory in national and international maritime sector. In addition to four years of theoretical and practical education, students get 12-month long practical marine training, and thus, they become eligible to take “Oceangoing Watchkeeping Engineer” Examination given by Turkish Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, Directorate General of Maritime and Inland Waters Regulation. The graduates of this program can find employment in trade, ships, shipyards, maritime lines and factories.

NAVAL ARCHITECTURE AND MARINE ENGINEERING

After completing 1 year of English preparatory school and 4 years of undergraduate education, graduates of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Department become entitled to get the diploma of ITU-TRNC Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Graduates of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering will receive an education that provides basic maths and engineering training together with current design and manufacturing techniques. The purpose of this program is to provide the students with communication, decision making, problem solving, leadership, and administrative skills; besides, they are expected to keep up with the latest developments in the field. Moreover, on completion of an additional education (A-III/1 curriculum according to STCW Convention) and satisfying the necessary conditions students will gain the proficiency level of “Oceangoing Engineer Officer”.
