ITU NORTH CYPRUS-TELSIM FUTURE LAB IS AT TRNC

Vodafone Telsim and Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has broken new ground in TRNC by signing a protocol for a technology-producing center. ITU-TRNC Rector Prof. Dr. Ercan KAHYA and Telsim General Director Cenk ALPER signed the protocol.

 

ITU-TRNC Education Research Campuses Secretary General Dursun KOÇ, Continuing Education Center Director Mehmet Ülkü KURUKAFA, Telsim Vice Director Fevzi TANPINAR, Telsim Technology Department Director Ayhan ALİUSTA and Telsim Corporate Sales Director Sevim BEŞOK have attended the signing ceremony as well.

 

KAHYA mentioned that there is a similar collaboration between Istanbul Technical University and Vodafone in Turkey, and that ITU North Cyprus-TELSIM FUTURE LAB will be the continuation of this collaboration. KAHYA also explained that this lab is going to be established in order to plan and carry out scientific studies with Technology Experience Center, carry out practical trainings, improve and popularize sectoral information.

 

KAHYA stated that Technology Experience Center, which will work under ITU North Cyprus-TELSIM FUTURE LAB, will realize scientific activities to develop and extend information, to put it into practice, and offer an environment where we can experience new generation technologies in accordance with the mission of ITU-TRNC.

 

During his speech at the signing ceremony, Telsim General Director Cenk ALPER said that the laboratory, which will be established here, will create academic-industrial synergy and cause young people to develop new products. ALPER reported that Vodafone Global is the biggest IoT service supplier in the world and Vodafone Group would like to transfer its experience in IoT to the island. “We will be presenting 8 smart technology solutions that we developed in the fields of remote administration, effective working, and in operational excellence”, he added.

 

ALPER also mentioned that he would like institutional businesses in TRNC to experience future technologies and develop suitable solutions according to their needs. He said that ITU North Cyprus-TELSIM FUTURE LAB is going to provide service as a technology base which prepares TRNC to the new conditions of competition in this digital world.

 

In accordance with this protocol, the ITU North Cyprus – TELSIM FUTURE LAB is going to provide opportunity of finding tailored and intelligent solutions to not only the public but also the private sector or to anyone who aims to prepare for competition around the world and to any business, corporation or workgroup looking to expand their business.

 

Sharing global experiences, innovative solutions and trends of the future with current and potential business partners and providing support on their journey to a more digital transformation is being aimed by the ITU North Cyprus – TELSIM FUTURE LAB. As the pioneer of digital transformation, another important objective of this Lab is to inspire businesses by bringing the innovations created by digitalization and technology of the future to today, and enable businesses to become a part of the digital era. An expert partner ecosystem is aimed to provide services that will offer solutions across the grid for technical needs other than audio and data. Many ARGE activities will be performed with different sectors across the island. It is also expected to experience possible benefits and applications of smart urbanization, IoT and VR solutions.
