A Cooperation Agreement Signed between Tashkent State Technical University and ITU

A cooperation agreement was signed between Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU) of Uzbekistan. With this protocol, ITU has added a new project to the education and research facilities it provides to undergraduate, graduate students and faculty members through joint scientific research activities.

 

After the visit of ITU delegation led by Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet KARACA to Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister and the universities of Uzbekistan, Rector of TSTU Prof. Sadritdin TURABDJANOV and Vice Rector Prof. Mirtemir KURBANOV paid a visit to ITU on 17-18 January as part of a protocol program hosted by ITU. During this visit, TSTU delegation had the opportunity to see ITU ARI Teknokent and its research centers and labs. After the visit, the ceremony for the signing of the education cooperation agreement took place on January 18, 2019 at the Rectorate Senate Meeting Hall. Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet KARACA, Rector of TSTU Sadritdin TURABDJANOV and the vice-rectors of these universities attended the signing ceremony. With mutual signatures, this cooperation agreement, which aims to open up new horizons in the scientific field and to accelerate the exchange of information in the communication process with international universities, became official.

 

The delegation visited ITU and entrepreneurship ecosystem centers ITU MAGNET and ITU Çekirdek offices. They held a meeting with ITU ARI Teknokent General Manager Assoc. Prof. Deniz Tuncalp at ITU ARI Teknokent head office and then listened to the presentations of Hyggefood and Intenseye initiatives from İTÜ Çekirdek. The delegation also visited Mineral Processing Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Departments of ITU Faculty of Mines.

 

TSTU Rector Prof. Sadritdin TURABDJANOV met with ITU- North Cyprus Rector Prof. Dr. Ercan KAHYA and Advisor to ITU- North Cyprus Rector Doğa ŞANLIOĞLU and discussed possible cooperation between two universities. Rector KAHYA invited Tashkent State Technical University Rector TURABDJANOV to TRNC.

 

Prof. Dr Mehmet KARACA emphasized the importance of developing ideas and advanced technology products with appropriate initiatives in line with scientific research via the establishment of technoparks and research centers in higher education institutions. Prof. Dr. Mehmet KARACA informed TSTU delegation about the information network formed between students, graduates and academicians during the process of transformation of scientific research and information to commercial products and the ways of improving universitıes’ skills to initiate micro businesses. With the protocol, joint studies will be carried out with TSTU on energy, electronics, medical and micro electronics, basic sciences and engineering physics, biotechnology, engineering, information technologies and mining.

 

Joint projects planned to be implemented to improve scientific cooperation between ITU and TSTU as part of the protocol signed are:

• Creating undergraduate and graduate student exchange program and joint curricula,
• To conduct exchange programs for faculty and researchers,
• To develop joint research activities through joint faculties, institutes and research centers,
• To organize materials and technical equipment for distance education for scientific development,
• To coordinate the internship program in university-industry specific areas,
• To encourage participation in scientific studies and to organize the preparation of education literature,
• To eliminate the problem of internship in the process of commercialization of knowledge and where Ar-Ge is important.

During the visit, the delegation headed by the Rector of TSTU had the opportunity to observe the process of education and the commercialization of information in line with the academic and scientific infrastructure of our university. The protocol, which will remain valid until the end of the 2019-2020 academic year, will be renewed upon the request of both parties. The protocol visit ended with the invitation of ITU faculty members to TSTU.
