Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail KOYUNCU and ITU-TRNC Rector Prof. Dr. Murat SARI, and accompanying members were received by the Minister of National Education Nazım ÇAVUŞOĞLU.

During the meeting, discussions centered around cooperation and developments in the education sector. It was announced that ITU-TRNC would commence education in Gazimağusa for the academic year 2024-2025 and would accept students through the A-Level system.

Minister Nazım ÇAVUŞOĞLU emphasized their efforts to enhance the quality of education and provide better opportunities for students. Stressing the importance of universities in cultivating qualified human resources, he highlighted their pivotal role in nurturing individuals equipped to meet future demands. ÇAVUŞOĞLU commended ITU's contributions in this regard, expressing optimism that the decisions announced during the meeting would provide significant educational opportunities for the Turkish Cypriot youth and conveyed his best wishes for their success.

In his remarks, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail KOYUNCU expressed gratitude to Minister Nazım ÇAVUŞOĞLU for the reception. He noted that ITU-TRNC would start offering education at the Gazimağusa Campus for preparatory school and first-year students in the 2024-2025 academic year. KOYUNCU emphasized that all educational activities would gradually transition to North Cyprus.

KOYUNCU also highlighted that ITU-TRNC would accept students from TRNC in two ways, through their own entrance exam and the A-Level system, starting from the next academic year.
