ITU Highest Ranked in Turkey at the Field of Engineering

The United States of America’s one of the most important Education Rankings site US News announced the ranking results of universities depending on their academic research and prestige. Istanbul Technical University took 181th place in the field of engineering among 600 universities, and also ranked the highest in Turkey.

 

US News takes a lot of data into account while considering the research areas of the universities. Research in the field of engineering and activities to develop the field take up a significant part in the ranking. Space engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and civil engineering are among the most prominent fields. With this result of the ranking, the education quality of ITU in the field of engineering is approved and registered once more.

 

ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet KARACA commented on the ranking and said that universities around the world are becoming more professional and ITU has adapted itself to this process in the best way possible. Prof. Dr. KARACA also said: “We see the results of our academic decisions and the academic moves we made in last 5-6 years, and especially the results of the investments we have made in people.”

 

US News & World Report, which has been around since 1933, is a source of news and information. It has been providing ranking lists in the field of education since 1983. Its aim is to determine the leading international universities in terms of academic fields. U.S. News lists the leading universities in 22 different fields by using a different methodology compared to other traditional ranking systems. These rankings are considered in terms of universities’ research performances. US News also takes a 5-year bibliometric criteria and international and national recognition in every field into account.
